I received an interesting question at allexperts.com recently. The inquirer asked: "If you had 10 questions that you could ask Ernest Hemingway if you had a personal interview with him what would they be?" Only ten I thought. There are a lot more than ten questions I would like to ask Ernest Hemingway. However, I stuck to the assignment and came up with ten questions.
- Do you regret leaving your first wife Hadley?
- Is there symbolism in your works?
- How do you feel about your private letters being published?
- What do you think of the annual Hemingway look alike contest in Key West, Florida?
- Does Thomasville's Ernest Hemingway collection of furniture truly represent your taste?
- Was F. Scott Fitzgerald a better writer than you?
- Did you really rewrite the ending of A Farewell to Arms 39 times?
- Which of your short stories are you most proud of?
- Do you think you would be successful as a modern day writer?
- Did Margot Macomber intentionally shoot her husband in "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber"?
If you had the opportunity to interview Ernest Hemingway, what questions would you ask?
