Margot Hemingway was the second child of John Hemingway and Byra Whittlesey Whitlock.
She first achieved fame in the 1970s as a fashion model. She signed a million-dollar contract with Fabergé to be the spokesmodel for Babe perfume.
Margot starred in the 1976 movie Lipstick with her younger sister Mariel. While her performance was greatly criticized, Mariel's performance was well received.
Margot's first marriage to Errol Wetson ended in divorce. Her second marriage to Bernard Foucher also ended in divorce in 1985.
Throughout her life, Margot struggled with alcoholism, bulimia and epilepsy. Due to her dyslexia, she did not read many of the books written by her grandfather. She openly admitted that she was not a Hemingway aficionado.
On July 1, 1996, Margot Hemingway died from an overdose of phenobarbital.
