Leicester Hemingway was the sixth of six children born to Clarence and Grace Hemingway and also the only brother of Ernest Hemingway.
From 1935 to 1940, he worked for a number of newspapers, including the Chicago Daily News, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and PM newspaper.
Leicester's 1962 book, My Brother, Ernest Hemingway offers probably the most complimentary and insightful profile of his famous brother. Leicester is also the author of the 1953 book, Sound of the Trumpet.
Leicester married twice. His first marriage produced two children: Jacob and Peter. His second marriage also produced two children: Anne and Hilary. After being told by doctors that a severe case of Type II diabetes might cost him both legs, Leicester Hemingway shot himself with a .22 pistol in September of 1982.
